  • 1 pound Italian pork sausage links, casings removed
  • 1 can (15 oz each) OR 1 carton (14.8 oz) Hunt's® Tomato Sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt's® Diced Tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 3 cups rotini pasta, uncooked
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Kraft® Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes

  1. Crumble sausage into large deep skillet; cook 8 to 10 minutes or until evenly browned, stirring frequently. Drain sausage; return to skillet.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce, undrained tomatoes, water, basil and oregano. Bring to a boil. Add pasta; stir. Cover; simmer on medium-low heat 18 to 20 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally.
  3. Mix ricotta, 1/4 cup Parmesan and parsley; spoon over pasta mixture, then swirl gently with spoon. Sprinkle remaining Parmesan over top.

I made this last night using ground sausage and ground beef. I added garlic and green peppers while browning the meat. I omitted diced tomatoes due to my picky eaters and added more tomato sauce and a little tomato paste. My 6 year enjoyed it and so did I! Will make again!

Great recipe but am surprised so many folks say they prefer ground sausage instead of links. What do you think you get when you remove the casings and crumble sausage into skillet? I get the same texture as ground sausage. Do you all get something different? Adding 1/2 ground beef is a great idea as I prefer to tone down the strong flavor of Italian sausage.

I agree with others in preferring ground as opposed to links. I use half lean hamburger and half spicy sausage in the interest of being even more budget friendly. I also used stewed tomatoes instead of diced for more flavor. it is so easy to prepare my daughter does it for us too!

this recipe was really easy and we all loved it-I added some jalapeno's for some more zip to it-it was great!!

This recipe was simple to make and so delicious! The feta cheese made the sauce really creamy and tasty. The only change I made was I used petite diced tomatoes. It has become one of our favorite recipes!!

It is fabulous - I added chopped green pepper and chopped onion at the same time you stir in tomato sauce, undrained tomatoes, water, basil and oregano.
