Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sirloin beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) dark red kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) Hunt's® Diced Tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz each) Hunt's® Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Gebhardt® Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Sliced green onions, sour cream, shredded Cheddar cheese and/or chopped avocado, optional

Directions

  1. Cook and stir beef and onion in large skillet over medium-high heat about 7 minutes or until crumbled and no longer pink; drain.
  2. Add beans, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, chili powder, sugar, cocoa and salt. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Serve chili topped with onions, sour cream, cheese and/or avocado, if desired.
