  • PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 3 pounds boneless pork shoulder, cut into large pieces
  • 1 can (12 oz each) Hunt's® Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Hunt's® Hickory & Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce
  • 2 pkgs (16 oz each) French rolls (6-inch), cut in half lengthwise

Directions

  1. Spray inside of slow cooker with cooking spray. Place pork in slow cooker. Spoon tomato paste over pork; do not stir. Cover; cook on LOW 8 to10 hours or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or until meat is tender.
  2. Shred cooked pork with 2 long-handled forks, blending in tomato paste. Stir in barbecue sauce.
  3. Spoon 1/2 cup shredded pork onto each roll. Serve immediately.

Delicious! This recipe is ridiculously easy to make. I don't have a slow cooker, but this wasn't an impediment, I used my pressure cooker and the meat was done in a little over an hour. The meat was super tender and the BBQ sauce gave it a delicious sweetness. My kids loved the sandwiches. I was glad to have leftovers because the following day the meat was even better.

This was a tough one for me as my family has two favorite pulled pork dishes already and I determined to say true to this recipe. While it was super easy to make, we found it bland due to the flavors we were used to tasting like chipotle, apricot jam, garlic for starters. My family noticed the lacking flavor and I had to add additional ingredients so they would eat it. At the end of the day, I look at it this way, while it's not a recipe for a family of foodies, it might be perfect for the non-cook who has to cook rather than order out. You can't get anything easier than 3 ingredients! So my family will pass on this dish but that doesn't mean that it's not a solid dish to build on if you know what flavors you like, just add em!

I thought this was AMAZING especially considering there are only a couple of ingredients. I made this for Father's Day dinner and my husband loved it and so did my 7- year-old who is pretty picky. I am really surprised at another review that suggests there is not enough flavor and I completely disagree. I thought the flavor was very robust! The pork was super-easy to shred and the taste was delicious. We ate leftovers the next day and they were also just as good as the first time around. I have to give this 5 stars because the taste was sooo delicious and it could not have been easier to make. I love a good slow cooker recipe and this definitely makes the grade!

This was very easy to make (and took less than 4 hrs) but the taste was lacking in flavor. I ended up adding a ton of stuff to it until my family liked the taste (we're big pulled bbq eaters). After adding brown sugar, honey, paprika, spicy mustard, vinegar, garlic, garlic powder, salt and pepper it was good.
