Ingredients

  • PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups baby carrots (2 cups = about 8 oz)
  • 2 cups sliced celery
  • 1 pound red potatoes, unpeeled, cubed
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into bite-size chunks
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme leaves
  • 1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt's® Diced Tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can (6 oz each) Hunt's® Tomato Paste

Directions

  1. Spray inside of 3-1/2-quart or larger slow cooker with cooking spray. Place onion evenly on bottom of slow cooker. Top with layers of carrots, celery, potatoes and meat; sprinkle with thyme. Pour undrained tomatoes and water over meat.
  2. Cover; cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours or until meat is tender.
  3. Stir in tomato paste; cover. Cook 10 minutes more.

Takes too long to make, specially when you are a busy person. It is nice but 8 1/2 hours to cook is crazy! I will just buy one already made for this because it is not good for saving energy.

This was not very good beef stew. Too much Thyme! I thought this was a very large amount of Thyme especially for the slow cooker. I will never make this again.

I MAKE THE BEEF STEW WITH ITALIAN SPICES BUT I DO NOT USE HUNTS BECAUSE I CAN NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE HERE IN ROANOKE VA I HAVE TO USE CARALINA WITH ITIALIAN SEASONINGS
