  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 8 bone-in chicken thighs (about 3 pounds)

  • 1/2 cup Hunt's® Tomato Ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Directions

  • Step one

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Stir together brown sugar, salt, paprika, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in small bowl.

  • Step two

    Place chicken thighs on baking sheet. Season with 3 tablespoons spice mixture. Bake 20 minutes.

  • Step three

    While chicken bakes, stir ketchup, vinegar, and remaining spice mixture together in small microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave 30 seconds. Stir and re-cover. Microwave another 30 seconds, until hot.

  • Step four

    After 20 minutes, baste chicken with barbecue sauce. Continue baking until chicken is cooked through (180°F), about 40 minutes, basting with sauce as desired.
